Today

After retiring in 2021, I have enjoyed being on the Rowlett Parks and Recreation Board and serving as the Chair of the 2022 Charter Review Commission.  Serving on these two Boards has inspired me to continue my life in public service.  With the experience I have in this community my husband, Bruce, and I decided that running for City Council would be an effective use of my skills, passion, and enthusiasm.

Neighborhood Life

I joined the City Manager's Office in 2016 as the Neighborhood Life Coordinator.  It was a fantastic job connecting me with all the City's departments and communities.  I designed programming to help educate and connect people across the City.  I worked with local organizations like Keep Rowlett Beautiful, The Rowlett Chamber of Commerce, and GISD.  My main goal was to listen to the aspirations of others and to help support them as they grew their knowledge, skills, and connections with others.  â€‹

In 2020 I was selected to start the Neighborhood Life program in the City of Anna.  But like many others, COVID and its aftermath changed that path.  Instead, I retired in 2021.

Government Service

I started my career in government service at Naval Air Station Key West.  I enjoyed working with the diverse population of sailors, contractors, and retirees.  When the call came that it was time to move back to Rowlett, I joined the Rowlett Parks and Recreation Department in 2014.  One of my first projects was to help manage the build of the new Kids Kingdom Playground.
From serving on the committee, to hammering nails, to the grand opening and beyond, building Kids Kingdom was an adventure like none other.

An  Adventuresome Life

My family moved to Rowlett in 1972. My passion for sailing began here on Lake Ray Hubbard. After graduating from Alaska Pacific University in my late 20s, I started sailing and lived aboard small sailboats until my late forties. I have sailed about 12,000 offshore miles on both coasts of North America and the west coast of Mexico.  The lessons I learned sailing would also apply to my work as a City Council member. Invest in quality, maintain the things that you own, and understand how people are impacted by their environment.
